Notification rules control who gets alerted when a rule's thresholds are breached, how they are contacted, and which sensors are covered.
You can reach the notification setup in two ways:
- From the post-save confirmation after creating a rule, click Set up notification rule
- From an existing rule, open the Notification Rules tab and click Edit Rule
The setup has three steps.
Step 1: Recipients
Search for team members by name or email and click + Add to include them. Added recipients are marked with a checkmark. Add as many as you need.
Under Choose notification channel, pick how they hear about it: Custodian for an in-app notification, Email to the address on their account, or SMS to their phone. You can pick more than one.
Click Next to continue.
Step 2: Customise
This step has two rows, and each opens a panel of its own.
Notifies for 4 / 9 units with an Edit button: choose which of the rule's sensors this notification rule covers. It can be a subset, for example only the sensors in one room.
Notify for all thresholds with a Customise button: choose which thresholds send a message. The panel is called Custom thresholds and lists each measurement with its bounds. Use All Added to include every one, or add them individually. Notifications fire on the critical bounds, marked in red. Readings in the warning zone are logged but never send anything.
If the rule sets a light budget, its warning percentage and the budget being reached appear here as triggers too. A budget with no notification rule still accumulates, and its events are still recorded in the rule's Threshold Events tab. Nobody is contacted about them.
Step 3: Summary
Name the rule in the Notification Rule field at the top. It is pre-filled with a default you can change. Below it you get:
- Climate Rule: the climate rule this notification belongs to
- Recipients: how many people will be contacted
- Thresholds: which measurements trigger a message
- Units: how many sensors are covered
The pencil beside a row takes you back to change it. Click Save Notification Rule to finish.
