Signal strength is how well a sensor reaches the Cloud Connector. A weak signal means readings arrive late or not at all, so it is worth checking before you leave a room, and worth checking again when a sensor goes quiet.
The Sensors screen
Tap Sensors on the home screen. The tabs across the top are your buildings, and Other holds the sensors that have no placement yet. Each row shows the sensor with Good signal, Poor signal or No signal and a percentage.
A red badge means nothing is getting through at the moment.
While you are placing a sensor
Step 3 of the installation guide shows the same reading live. Hold the sensor in a few positions and watch the number before you fix it in place.
On the sensor itself
Open any sensor and the badge next to its name shows the same reading, so you can check one device without going back to the list.
Improving a weak signal
Most weak signals come down to where the Cloud Connector sits. See tips in the installation guide gives three rules of thumb:
- Place the Cloud Connector centrally in relation to the sensor
- Place it high up, for example on a wall or on the ceiling
- Avoid placing it inside a technical cabinet or similar
Thick walls, metal cabinets and display cases all cut the signal. If the sensor has to stay where it is, move the Cloud Connector closer instead.
