The installation guide is the same set of steps whether you are putting a sensor up for the first time or moving one that is already installed. Start it from the home screen: the tile reads Start installation on a project with nothing installed yet, and Move a sensor after that.
Have the sensor and its QR code to hand before you start. The code is how Custodian knows which device you are working on.
Step 1: The Cloud Connector
Plug the Cloud Connector into a power outlet. The screen shows Waiting for connection until it reports in, then shows how well it is connecting. Wait until the connection is stable, then continue.
Skip ahead if the Cloud Connector is already up and you are only moving a sensor.
Step 2: Scan the sensor
Tap Scan QR code and point the camera at the code on the sensor. If the code belongs to a device in another project you see This sensor does not exist in this project, so check which project you are signed in to.
Step 3: Place the sensor
Hold the sensor where you want to measure. The box below the instruction shows live signal strength as Good signal, Poor signal or No signal. Move the sensor, or move the Cloud Connector, until the reading is good, then fix the sensor in place.

- Place the Cloud Connector centrally in relation to the sensor
- Place it high up, for example on a wall or on the ceiling
- Avoid placing it inside a technical cabinet or similar
Step 4: Name it and place it
Give the sensor a name and a description. You can also take a picture of it, which helps when you are looking for one grey box among five, and draw on the picture to mark exactly where it sits. Replace or remove the picture from the same screen, or use Skip this step to move on without one.
The last screen asks where the sensor lives: Select a building, then Select a room if you want that level of detail. Add building and Add room create new ones without leaving the guide.
When you are done
Custodian confirms with Sensor is installed! or Sensor is moved!. From there, start the next one with Install another sensor or Move another sensor, or close the window.
Moving a sensor without the guide
If you already have the sensor open on screen, tap the cog in the top right, choose a different building or room, and tap Save.
