Once a climate rule is created, you can set up a notification rule so the right people are alerted when a threshold is breached.
You can start this process immediately after creating a rule, or at any time from the Recipients tab inside an existing rule.
Step 1: Recipients
Choose who should receive the notification. A list of all users in your account appears, each showing a role badge (such as Normal, Administrator, or a custom role) and email address. Click + Add next to each person you want to include, they are then marked Added ✓. You can add as many recipients as you like.
Use the search bar to find someone by name or email.
Click Next once you have added all recipients.
Step 2: Set up
Choose how recipients are notified. Three channels are available:
- Custodian: a notification appears inside the Custodian app
- Email: an email is sent to the recipient's registered address
- SMS: a text message is sent to the recipient's registered phone number
You can select one or more channels.
Enable Custom Notification window (SMS/EMAIL) to limit when notifications are sent. Pick the days of the week (or use the Weekdays or Every day shortcuts) and set a from and to time under Timeframe, the end time must be after the start time. Leave this toggle off to send notifications at any time.
Click Next to continue.
If a recipient does not have a phone number registered in their account, SMS will not be available for them. Phone numbers can be added from the user settings.
Step 3: Customization
Choose which of the rule's thresholds should trigger a notification. Each threshold the rule monitors is listed with its range. Click + Add next to a threshold to include it, or + Add all to include everything. For example, if your rule monitors both temperature and humidity, you can choose to notify on temperature breaches only.
Click Next to continue.
Step 4: Units
Choose which sensors this notification rule applies to. The sensors already assigned to the rule appear here, grouped by site under Sites, with any Sites without units listed separately. Click + Add all to include a whole site, expand a site to add individual sensors, or Remove all to clear one.
Click Next to continue.
Step 5: Summary
Give the notification rule a name in the Notification Rule Name field (it is pre-filled with a default you can change), then review the details before saving:
- The climate rule the notification belongs to
- The number of recipients
- The schedule (the days and times, or all day)
- The thresholds covered
- The number of target units
Click Save Notification Rule.
A confirmation screen shows Notification rule created! The notification rule is now active. You can view, edit, or delete notification rules at any time from the Recipients tab inside the relevant climate rule.
